Try Out! tells the stories of more than thirty real entrepreneurs, both local and international. These include Oprah Winfrey, Thomas Edison, Frank Woolworth, Donald Gordon, Milton Hershey, Henry Ford and Bill Gates. Many of these entrepreneurs started out in life financially and educationally disadvantaged. Yet they managed to overcome great odds and find great financial success.
The materials revolve around large posters of a fictional town called Ventureville. Each work card introduces learners to business concepts related to the personal stories of real entrepreneurs, such as customer service, marketing, selling and production. Learners are challenged with “homework” which encourages them to apply what they have learned to their own lives to make money and to achieve their own goals.
