Start Out! was originally designed and created by SAIE before the introduction of the new curriculum. We were involved in upgrading the materials to meet the requirements of the new curriculum. The materials used are aimed at introducing learners to both theoretical and practical aspects of running a business. Learners learn to run their own businesses through a business simulation game. In the process, they discover how to put together a business plan, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to one day write their own business plans.
The learners are divided into five groups and given the choice of three snack businesses to run. Practical exercises see the groups running a real business of their own.
