Project
Brainwave Projects manages educational projects involving all aspects of education, from early childhood development to workplace motivation. Brainwave specialises in career guidance. Brainwave director, Dr Lanette Hattingh, developed a career guidance book, Journey to Your Career, which caught the attention of the Deutsche Bank Foundation. In 2007 Deutsche Bank approached The South African Institute for Entrepreneurship to assist with the development of Dr Lanette Hattingh’s (Brainwave Projects) career guidance book, Journey to Your Career. SAIE invited Bright Sparks to participate in the conversion of the book into a more interactive and comprehensive career guidance programme. Thus began a creative journey of epic proportions!
The Challenge
Too many young people are not able to find a career. Many Grade 9 learners struggle to make informed choices regarding their subjects because they have little idea of where their interests lie in terms of careers. Every grade nine learner faces the difficult task of choosing subjects to study from grade ten to grade twelve, and the even harder task of choosing a career for which those subjects are suited. However, in order to make a wise choice about a suitable career field, every learner needs to build up a pool of knowledge about him or herself.
The Solution
We assisted Brainwave Projects in the development of Journey to Your Career, which SAIE republished as Discover Your Career (2008), and we co-developed a new book, Launch Your Career (2009). Books and training can be ordered through Brainwave Projects.
