Kusasa consists of a comprehensive course of projects for learners in grades 4 to 6. These projects encompass content aligned with the South African National Curriculum Statement (NCS). Learners also have opportunities to explore their personal, passionate interests.
But Kusasa is not just a nice way to achieve some curriculum requirements. Kusasa aims to develop new ways for learners to think about the things they are studying in all of their learning areas: mathematics, physical science, chemistry, biology, geography, history, economic and management sciences and others. Kusasa provides learners with new ways of guiding their thinking to be more analytical and more creative. It introduces learners to the skill of modelling, which is the skill of using computers and software to simulate the behaviour of the objects, organisms or processes they are studying.
If Kusasa accomplished no more than this, it would already be a giant leap for learners. But there's more. Kusasa will offer teachers a way to develop a new culture of learning in and out of the classroom through planning, action and reflection. Please visit the Kusasa site to mind out more about the content we developed, and the innovative techniques we developed.
